President approves appointment of Justice Qaiser Rasheed as Chief Justice after the death of Justice Waqar Ahmed Seth, the notification issued

Senior Justice of Peshawar High Court Justice Qaiser Rashid has been appointed as Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court. President Dr. Arif Alvi has approved the appointment of Justice Qaiser Rashid, a notification has also been issued. According to details, President Dr. Arif Alvi has appointed Acting Chief Justice Peshawar High Court and Justice Qaiser Rashid as permanent Chief Justice Peshawar High Court.

A notification has been issued for the permanent appointment of Justice Qaiser Rashid as Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court. It may be mentioned that Qaiser Rasheed Khan has been a judge in the Peshawar High Court since 2 August 2011, while he has been serving as the Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court since 16 November 2020. He took over as a senior judge from 28 June 2018. After Justice Peshawar High Court Justice Waqar Ahmed Seth, he was promoted to the post of Acting Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court on 16 November 2020.

It may be recalled that on 12 November 2020, Chief Justice Peshawar High Court Waqar Ahmed Seth passed away due to covid-19. Justice Waqar Ahmed Seth was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Islamabad after being diagnosed with the covid. He was shifted from Peshawar to Islamabad after being diagnosed with the deadly epidemic, where he was in critical condition for several days at Kulsoom International Hospital. During treatment, the Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court died due to covid.
