In a major breakthrough the district and session judge in Peshawar Central Jail awarded death sentence to the murderer of MBBS students Asma Rani who was killed by Mujahid ullah Afridi in 2018.
The decision was briefly announced by district and session judge Ashfaq Taj.
It must be noted that Asma Rani a medical student was gunned down by Mujahid Afridi after she refused to marry him back in January 2018. Asma Rani had recorded her video statement minutes before her death and had accused Mujahid of fatal attack on her.
The culprit Mujahid Afridi soon after the murder fled to UAE, however, Pakistani authorities through Interpol had arrested him from Sharjah state of UAE.
The then Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar while taking the notice of this high-profile case had directed IG-KP Police to submit the report of the case within 24 hours.
The family of Asma Rani has frequently demanded security from the KP government as they have allegedly been receiving threats from the murderer and his family members.
