On September 9, a woman was gang-raped on a motorway in the Gujjarpura area of Lahore. The two men smashed the windscreen of a car parked on the motorway, pulled out the woman and her children, and then raped the woman in front of the children.
The woman was returning to Gujranwala from Lahore with her children around 1.30 pm when her car ran out of petrol near Gujjarpura. The woman was waiting for help when the car ran out of fuel.
The woman also called the motorway police, but the motorway police reportedly said no one was on emergency duty. According to the police, the victim’s medical test proved that she had been abused.
According to the police, the victim will record the initial statement by telephone, after which a transcript of her 161 statement will be attached to the challan. The victim has also agreed to identify the accused Shafqat. In this case, the court will be asked for an in-camera trial, and the ‘pseudonym’ of the victim will be used during the trial.
