The mother of PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif and PML-N president and opposition leader in the National Assembly Mian Shahbaz Sharif has passed away.
PML-N leader Ata Tarar has confirmed the news of the death of Begum Shamim Akhtar. The mother of Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif, in a statement released on social networking site Twitter.

Nawaz Sharif, the eldest son of the late Shamim Akhtar, is currently in London for treatment. While his younger son Shahbaz Sharif is currently lodged in Lahore Jail.
