The Punjab government has officially prohibited the establishment of new car washing stations across the province, as reported.
A directive from the Punjab Environment Department confirms the immediate enforcement of the ban.
Authorities stated that any breach of this regulation will be subject to legal action under the Pakistan Penal Code.
This move comes in response to growing concerns over water scarcity and the looming threat of drought in the region.
The department highlighted that each car wash consumes approximately 400 liters of water, and the introduction of additional service stations could worsen the environmental and socio-economic challenges linked to the water shortage.
