Opposition demands immediate resignation of the PMOpposition parties have called for the immediate resignation of Prime Minister Imran Khan. Addressing a joint press conference after a lengthy conference of opposition parties in Islamabad, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Shahbaz Sharif, and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the elected Prime Minister should resign immediately.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman said on the occasion that he would launch a nationwide mass protest movement by forming a broader democratic alliance comprising parties believing in democracy and the constitution. Meanwhile, protest rallies will be held in all cities and towns of Pakistan. Maulana Fazl ur Rehman read out the action plan of the opposition on this occasion, according to which the All Party Conference demands the immediate resignation of the elected Prime Minister Imran Ahmad Niazi.

Lawyers, businessmen, farmers, laborers, civil society, media, and the public will be involved in the movement’s activities. In the first phase, in October-November 2020, meetings will be held in major cities, including the country’s provincial capitals. In the second phase in December 2020, massive public rallies and demonstrations will be held in the provincial capitals, and a nationwide protest will be held along with the people.

There will be a decisive long march towards Islamabad in January 2021. The United Opposition will use all democratic, political, and constitutional options, both inside and outside parliament, to change the elected government, including a no-confidence motion and a collective referendum from the assemblies in due course.
