According to the information, Faisal Vawda had resigned as a member of the National Assembly on March 3. A petition was filed seeking disqualification of Faisal Wawda under Article 62-1F of the Constitution for concealing dual citizenship and submitting a false affidavit. Released
A detailed 13-page judgment was issued by Justice Amir Farooq stating that Faisal Vawda had submitted an affidavit on June 11 not to have dual citizenship. He has published a certificate of renunciation of US citizenship on June 25. At the time of scrutiny of Faisal Vawda’s nomination papers, he was a US citizen and ineligible to contest the election. Thus, Faisal Vawda’s affidavit is false in principle. The testimony he submitted to the Election Commission Can investigate and issue appropriate orders.
According to the detailed judgment, from January 29, 2020, to March 3, 2021, Faisal Vawda did not reply to the disqualification petition. He sometimes prolonged the case for one reason or another and delayed the case for not filing a reply. A record of nomination papers was sought from the Election Commission for non-submission. Faisal Wawda’s lawyer submitted his resignation to the Assembly in a March 3 hearing, saying the application had become ineffective.
The detailed judgment states that the petitioner’s counsel insisted that the resignation has only been submitted, yet to be approved. There are different consequences for submitting a false affidavit, Faisal Wawda becoming a Member of the National Assembly or a Senate member. Not eligible, when Faisal Wawda was elected MNA on PTI ticket in the 2018 elections, notification of his victory was issued on August 7, 2018.
