The anti-government Ittihad-e-Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has received the papers of Yousuf Raza Gilani and Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri for chairman and deputy chairman of the Senate. Sherry Rehman, Fariq Naik, Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, and Maulana Atta-ur-Rehman won three sets of papers for both posts.
Opposition members also received a sample of ballot papers from the Senate Secretary. The Secretary Senate said that the green ballot paper is for the Chairman Senate while the pink ballot paper is for the Deputy Chairman Senate. It may be mentioned that the election for the chairmanship of the Senate will be held tomorrow.
Kamil Ali Agha, Saifullah Sarwar Khan Niazi, Afnanullah Khan, Aun Abbas, Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry, in the notification issued under Section 118 of the Election Act 2017. Prof. Sajjad Mir and Irfan-ul-Haq Siddiqui have been elected unopposed as Senators from Punjab for the general seat.
Azam Nazir Tarar and Syed Ali Zafar, Zarqa Suhrawardy Teymour, and Sadia Abbasi have been declared unopposed senators in the women’s seats. A notification was also issued for the victory of Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani in the general seat of Islamabad and Faiza Arshad in the women’s seat.
