According to the Foreign Office, Prime Minister Imran Khan went on a three-day visit to Saudi Arabia on Saturday to attend the opening ceremony of the ‘Middle East Green Initiative (MGI) Summit’ in Riyadh (FO).
Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Energy Minister Hammad Azhar, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam were among those who went, according to the FO.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had extended an invitation to the premier to attend the event’s inaugural ceremony, according to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The prime minister will talk at the MGI Summit about the issues facing poor countries as a result of climate change, according to the PMO, and will also emphasize Pakistan’s experience in launching “nature-based solutions to solve environmental challenges.”
The Crown Prince’s project, the MGI Summit, is the “first of its kind” in the Middle East, according to a PMO statement.
Prime Minister Imran Khan lauded MBS’s “Green Saudi Arabia” and “Green Middle East” reforestation and environmental programs in March, saying the crown prince’s vision matched those of his government.
