Punjab government decides to conduct a corona test in educational institutions.

The Punjab Health Department has decided to test for the coronavirus in educational institutions of the province. Punjab Health Secretary Capt (retd) Usman had a meeting with the heads of government laboratories. It was planned to increase laboratories’ existing capacity, pool testing procedures, and work in 3 shifts.

The health secretary said that corona testing would be conducted in the province as per the instructions of the NCOC. The NCOC will run a sampling campaign in 986 high-risk educational institutions, and samples will be taken from 383 educational institutions in the province every 15 days.

He said that random samples of 603 schools, colleges, and universities would be taken. More than 5,000 samples will be taken daily, 70,000 samples will be taken every 15 days. School Education Department teams will be trained to take samples. It is to be noted that the federal government has announced to open educational institutions across the country with SOPs from September 15, while testing for the coronavirus has been made mandatory.
