ISLAMABAD: The good news for the heat-stricken people is that the Meteorological Department has forecast rain in most parts of the country from Thursday.
From Thursday night, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan will receive heavy rains on Saturday and Sunday. Heat-stricken people will get cool breezes for a few days. The rains are likely to continue till Monday morning.
Meteorological Department spokesman Dr. Zaheer Babar said that rains are likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan from Thursday night to Monday morning. It will be hot and dry.
The Meteorological Department also said that normal rainfall is expected in the country this month while the temperature is expected to be higher than normal. There will be more rain in the second half than in the first half of June. There is a possibility of 2 to 3 spells of rain during the second and third weeks of June. In the first half of June, one or two heat waves are expected in the plains of Sindh, Balochistan, and Punjab, while an increase in temperature will accelerate the melting of snow in the northern areas.
The rains in the next one or two days will reduce the temperature while the heat-stricken people will be able to breathe in the cool air for a few days.
