Former national cricket team captain Shahid Afridi and fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar have expressed their grief over the death of PML-N leader Mian Nawaz Sharif Begum Shamim Akhtar. Besides, she is the mother of PML-N president and opposition leader in the National Assembly Mian Shahbaz Sharif.
On Twitter, Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Akhtar wrote a line from the famous poem of the Eastern poet Allama Iqbal, “In Memory of the Late Mother”:
"اب دُعائے نیم شب میں کس کو مَیں یاد آؤں گا!"

The former captain wrote, “May Allah Almighty grant Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and other family members patience in this time.”
Former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar from Rawalpindi Express has also sent a message on Twitter expressing his condolences.
