The decision on Asif Zardari's requests to dismiss three additional references postponed

The verdict in the fake accounts case against Asif Ali Zardari on Park Lane, Money Laundering, and Thatta Water Supply Supplementary Reference will be postponed and announced on September 23. The accountability court had reserved its decision on Thursday on the former president’s petitions for the deletion of three additional references, which was to be announced on Friday. The petitions’ decision for removal of additional references against Asif Zardari has been postponed till September 23.

During the hearing on Thursday, the former president’s lawyer Farooq Naik termed the supplementary references as malicious of NAB and said that Asif Zardari was not summoned in any inquiry into the Thatta reference. In response, the NAB prosecutor presented a summons notice to Asif Ali Zardari in the court and said that he not only summoned the former president but also asked for a time limit for a written reply, which he has not given till date.

Lawyer Farooq Naik replied that the court had not issued any order for admissibility of the supplementary reference, adding that the NAB chairman did not have the power of supplementary reference. NAB Prosecutor Sardar Muzaffar said that NAB has the power to present evidence till the completion of the trial. New evidence is always presented only in the form of supplementary references. In the Panama case also supplementary reference was made.
