Islamabad Mayor Sheikh Ansar Aziz resigned in protest of the government’s attitude, with four months left in his term. The federal government had twice removed the mayor of the federal capital by filing a reference.

Sheikh Ansar Aziz, the mayor of the federal capital Islamabad, submitted his resignation to the chief election commissioner in protest of the government’s attitude, four months before his term expired.

He was removed from the post of mayor after the federal government filed two references. Sheikh Ansar Aziz, disillusioned with the government’s attitude, decided to resign. Sheikh Ansar Aziz had approached the court against the government reference, both times the mayor of Islamabad was restored to his post.
