Two names of Chief Minister for Gilgit-Baltistan have been shortlisted. Prime Minister Imran Khan is being consulted on who will be the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan. Sources said that the names of Barrister Khalid Khurshid and Fatehullah Khan are being considered for Gilgit-Baltistan.
Sources said that Prime Minister Imran Khan will give final approval to the nomination of the Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister today. Moreover, in the first session of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly yesterday, 33 newly elected members took the oath of office.
At the ceremony, 3 technocrats including 24 members elected on general seats, and 6 women members on reserved seats took the oath. Speaker Fida Muhammad Nashad administered the oath to the newly elected members.
According to the party position, 21 members belong to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) while PPP is the second-largest party in the assembly with 4 members including 1 woman and 1 technocrat. The PTI’s ally, the Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen, has one general seat. While the PTI has three reserved seats, including one reserved seat for women and one technocrat.
The first session of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly, which was formed as a result of the November 15 elections. It was held on Wednesday, in which newly elected members of the PPP and PML-N took the oath by wearing black armbands as a protest against alleged rigging in the Assembly elections.
