Pakistan ranks 15th in Asia Power Index 2020 released by Lowy Institute. The report, released after 128-point scrutiny of political and diplomatic relations, includes not only Asian countries but also countries with significant influence in the region, including the United States.

The Lowy Institute’s report examines the international credibility and strength of countries around the world. The research revolves around eight key indicators, including a country’s military capability, defense system, economic and diplomatic situation, and resources.

The report also included policies by Asian countries to deal with the Corona Crisis, as well as the Southeast Asian country of Papua New Geneva for the first time.

According to the report, the United States is the most powerful country in the region. Although its score has dropped by three points due to wrong policies to deal with the coronavirus, the lead of 10 points gained last year remains. Yes, China is one of the fastest-growing countries in the world.

Interestingly, Pakistan’s flexible policies and effective diplomatic relations have opened up more avenues for Pakistan than last year, making it to the top of the list. On the other hand, India’s dependence on other countries remains. But in terms of diplomatic and economic relations, India has gone down.

Pakistan has seen very effective measures to control the coronavirus, positive steps in internal stability and geo-economic security.
