In negotiations between the TikTok administration and the PTA, the TikTok administration promised to stop the sharing of illegal content and ensure the sharing of content on social media following Pakistani law.

According to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, a meeting was held between the Chairman PTA and the top management of TikTok on a virtual platform yesterday. The meeting discussed issues related to the prevention of immoral content following Pakistani law. On this occasion, the efforts and measures taken by the TikTok administration to curb the prohibited material following the local laws were informed.

The meeting agreed to formulate a plan of action to prevent objectionable content and provide safe content to Pakistani consumers and to keep in touch. The PTA issued a statement regarding the meeting stating that the senior management of TikTok had decided to moderate the content on TikTok following local laws and future strategies for online sharing of content following Pakistani law. He also informed the Chairman PTA about this. It is to be noted that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) had banned the Chinese social media app TikTok two days ago.

According to the PTA, various sections of the society had complained about the presence of immoral and obscene content on TikTok, after which it was decided to ban the app.
