The police resorted to throwing tear gas and firing pellets on Shia Muslims who took part in the Muharram procession, seriously injuring many mourners. Some have reportedly been struck in their eyes by bullets.
According to the eye witnesses , Jaloos started out from the colony of Hamdania and went to Khomeini Chowk in Bemina when they were showered with pellets by the police.
Further more eyewitnesses added,”They used pellets on the mourners. The procession was peaceful and maintaining COVID guidelines. People were wearing masks and walking away from each other. But they fired. More than 15 people have been injured.”
According to the Imam Hussain Hospital officials, that they received more than 30 injured mourners.
“Most of them are badly hit. They are hit in the eyes, some have been hit in the legs with shells,”
“More than 10 people were critically injured and seems impossible that they will be able to see ever again.”
